When should I book? How far in advance?

You can book anytime, but we recommend reserving at least 5 days ahead to secure your preferred date and time.

How long does it take?

Walk-in sessions run 30 to 60 minutes. Private Bookings are a standard 1 or 1.5 hours and are fully customizable, with extensions available on request.

What if I have to cancel? What’s your policy?

Cancellations with 5 or more days’ notice receive a refund. Short-notice cancellations receive a credit toward a future booking.

Hours & Group Size

When to come and who to bring.

What are the hours of operation?

Private Bookings are available 7 days a week, 10am–10pm (book at least 5 days ahead). Walk-in and Social Lane hours vary by location — check your local page for details.

Can I come with a couple of friends or a date?

Absolutely. Check your location page for walk-in times, or book a Social Lane. Four people secures a fully private lane.

Spectators are free beyond the lane minimums (4 for a 1-hour private booking, 6 for a 1.5-hour private booking).

What to Bring

Food, drinks and gear.

What should I wear?

Closed-toe shoes are required. Wear comfortable clothes that let your shoulders move freely, and layer up in winter.

Can we bring our own drinks?

Most locations are licensed, so outside alcohol (BYOB) isn’t permitted. Non-alcoholic drinks are welcome everywhere, and beverages are available for purchase on site.

Can we bring our own food?

Yes, food is welcome — with the exception of our Alexandria and Minneapolis locations, which have full kitchens and require pre-approval.

Can we bring our own axes?

Yes, as long as they comply with World Axe Throwing League parameters. Our staff will assess them for compliance before you throw.

Do you supply plates, forks and knives?

Alexandria and Minneapolis provide these. At other locations, please bring your own.

Do you have a fridge for drinks?

This varies by location — we recommend bringing a cooler to be safe.

At the Venue

What to expect on the day.

Do you provide all the equipment?

Yes — all axes are supplied. Just show up ready to throw.

Will someone show us how to throw before we start?

Yes. Every session begins with a brief orientation from a coach before your first throws.

Can my kids do this?

Kids are welcome. Children under 8 may not throw but can attend with a parent or guardian. Note: our Long Beach location is 21+ only.

Can we take pictures or videos?

Yes — we encourage it. Tag us and show off your bullseyes.

Do you have music, or should we bring our own?

Speakers are available at our venues, and staff can play your requested music.

Can we smoke in your facility?

There’s no indoor smoking. Outdoor smoking is permitted.

Safety, Rules & League

How we keep it fun and safe.

What are the axe throwing rules?

The rules are simple and your coach explains everything before your first throws to keep the session safe and fun.

Is it safe? Has anyone ever gotten hurt?

Safety is our top priority. The worst we’ve seen are the occasional minor scrape or splinter — no serious injuries.

Do you have a league?

Yes! Bad Axe is a founding member of the World Axe Throwing League. Head to our League page for details.
