  • How much does it cost to purchase and start a Bad Axe Throwing licensed location?

    The cost of a Bad Axe Throwing licensed location varies depending on the location, size of the unit, along with other factors. The main cost being the current shape of the building.

  • What is the difference between a Licensing Agreement and a Franchise Agreement?

    A licensed location means you have more control. We cannot dictate: what your location must look like, where it needs to be located, nor can we impose new costs such as forcing you to buy expensive axes from us, or forcing you to buy wood from us at a markup. With franchise agreements, there is much less control that you have on your business, where head office can dictate the look/feel of your location, the supplies you must purchase, setting the price that you sell your products & services and much more. A licensing agreement means your fully independent and someone that is starting an axe throwing facility, with full control of all aspects of your business, while doing business under the biggest name in the industry: Bad Axe Throwing.

  • How much money can I make?

    Profitability depends on many factors including operating and occupancy costs, financing terms and most important, your ability to operate the business effectively. Under a licensing agreement, we are unable to give guidance on profitability and costs in order to keep it as a licensing agreement and not a franchise agreement.

  • What is the licensing fee for a 10-year License Agreement term?

    The licensing signing fee is currently $7,500 and is payable upon signing the License Agreement.

  • I am interested in opening an Axe Throwing location in my area - who do I submit this to?

  • What types of qualifications does Bad Axe Throwing seek in a candidate?

    For our mutual success, we must ensure that every entrepreneur possesses the commitment level, dedication, work ethic, skills, character and people skills. There are a number of qualifications we look for in an applicant such as:

    • All partners meet the initial investment requirements and are willing to commit to the Business full time
    • Prior management experience
    • Strong communication skills and leadership qualities
    • Keen understanding on how to recruit, train and manage staff
    • Solid business acumen
    • A partner who who will be a hands-on operator, willing to commit to the demands of the business full time
  • Am I protected from other Bad Axe Throwing locations opening in my area?

    At the time a location is determined for your first store a "Protected Area" will be established. The size of the area will depend on the density of population, traffic, competition and other factors.

  • Once I meet the criteria, what is the waiting period for a licensed location and how do I know what number I am on the list?

    We do not rank applicants in order in which they apply. Therefore, we are unable to quote timeframes or guarantee a candidate that they will ultimately be chosen for an interview and/or approved for a license. When we have an opportunity for a new licensed location, all applicants who have identified that particular area as a location preference, will be considered. The most qualified applicants will be contacted for the first interview. Consideration is not based on the length of time that an applicant has been on file.

  • What does the licensing system include?

    Owning and operating an Axe Throwing location utilizing the Bad Axe brand, trademarks, social media, website and booking engine, including post customer experience engine. Additionally, you will receive support in these specific areas:

    • Introduction to world-class trainer in the industry
    • Assistance in site selection and lease negotiation
    • Immediate membership to WATL
    • Marketing & Press Outreach
    • Scheduling systems
    • On-going website development, customer service access & booking systems
  • In addition to the initial investment of a Bad Axe Throwing licensing, what on-going payments am I required to make during the term of the License?

    On-going payments include:

    • A monthly Royalty fee of 12% of gross sales per year, up to $400,000, then 10% of gross sales per year over $400,000 (for the term of the Licensing Agreement)
  • Will Bad Axe Throwing assist me with Commercial Lease agreements?

    We will introduce you to an International Broker that has closed more Commercial Lease Agreements in the axe throwing space than anyone else in the world.

  • What is the term of the License Agreement?

    The term of the License Agreement is usually 10 years and usually with options to renew for up to a further period of 10 years.

  • What if I am interested in an International location outside of Canada and the United States?

  • How secure is my information?

    All information is kept confidential. We do not sell your personal information to third parties and only use it for its intended purpose of evaluating applicants.
